Hung Vuong Hospital, FbioMed worked with Cryoviva Tissue Bank to conduct a research on infertility treatment with mesenchymal stem cells from umbilical cord

On March 25, 2022, at Hung Vuong Hospital (HCMC.), Hung Vuong Hospital and FBioMed Medical Service Trading Co., Ltd. officially entered into a research cooperation agreement with the research title: “Clinical trial for evaluation of the efficacy and safety of umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cell infusion in patients with thin endometrium during stored embryo transfer process at Hung Vuong Hospital.

Accordingly, FBioMed Medical Service Trading Co., Ltd. will sponsor all research funds and cell-based biological products for Hung Vuong Hospital to serve the research. During the implementation process, stem cells will be kept at Cryoviva Vietnam Tissue Bank – one of the licensed foreign technology transfer banks.

Attending the signing ceremony were representatives of the Department of Science, Technology and Training (Ministry of Health), Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City, Hung Vuong Hospital, Cryoviva Vietnam Tissue Bank, FBioMed Medical Service Trading Co., Ltd.

In order to promote cooperation in the medical field, the two parties have mutually agreed to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation with the following contents:

• Purpose of cooperation: To conduct a clinical trial for evaluation of the efficacy and safety of umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cell infusion in patients with thin endometrium during stored embryo transfer process at Hung Vuong Hospital;
• Contents of cooperation:
  + FBioMed Medical Service Trading Co., Ltd. sponsors cell biological products (Mesenchymal stem cells MSCs with markers removed, cell survival rate of 90%, cells used for treatment at P3) and economic expenses for research and application of stem cell-based treatment according to specific treatment projects at Hung Vuong Hospital, co-owner of related research projects;
  + The cost of implementing the project (including research costs and cell costs) is exclusively and totally sponsored by FBioMed Company for Hung Vuong Hospital;
  + Facilitate the transfer of high-tech medical treatments including modern medical equipment, exchange of medical personnel, and coordinate in the implementation of online medical examination and consultation programs of experts among medical facilities of FBioMed Company’s from foreign partners in the system of FSCB Service Business Co., Ltd. in coordination with Hung Vuong Hospital.

Ensure compliance with the provisions of law, procedures of the Department of Science, Technology and Training – Ministry of Health, approved by the Hospital’s Scientific Committee

On the side of Hung Vuong Hospital, Assoc. DSc. Dr. Hoang Thi Diem Tuyet said that injecting umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells into the uterus in patients with thin endometrium in embryo transfer process in the treatment of female infertility is a new technique which opens up treatment opportunities for many patients who have no chance of getting pregnant.

This is a topic of profound practical and humane significance, a pioneer clinical trial in the field of infertility treatment based on stem cells in Vietnam, ensuring compliance with the provisions of law and procedures of the Department of Science, Technology and Training – Ministry of Health, approved by the Hospital’s Scientific Committee and research records are appraised before conducting clinical trials by the Ethics Committee of Ministry of Health.

If positive research results are achieved, when the project is successfully implemented and accepted by the Ministry of Health, Hung Vuong Hospital is entitled to conduct treatment for patients at the hospital according to the protocol.
